The IRATA Rope Access Training provides the required skills for all persons currently working in or looking to commence any type of roped access work.

 

Course Syllabus

The Irata Training Course syllabus includes:

Level 1 (Trainee)

A Level 1 Rope Access Technician shall be capable of performing a limited range of rope access tasks required by their employers, under the supervision of an IRATA level 3 Rope Access Technician, including:

  • Responsibility for inspections of all their own personal rope access equipment
  • Being able to assist in rigging and non-standard operations, under the guidance of a higher grade
  • Being able to undertake a rescue involving descent and have knowledge of hauling systems

Level 2 (Operative)

A Level 2 Rope Access Technician is an experienced rope access technician who has Level 1 skills plus more complex rigging, rescue and rope access skills, including:

  • Rigging working ropes
  • Undertaking rescues and performing rope access tasks under the supervision of an IRATA Level 3 Rope Access Technician
  • Knowledge of legislation, safety requirements and quality assurance procedures relating to rope access

Level 3 (Supervisor)

A Level 3 Rope Access Technician is capable of complete responsibility for rope access safety in work projects, including:

  • Site supervision for rope access work projects
  • Being conversant with relevant work techniques and legislation
  • Able to demonstrate all the skills and knowledge required of levels 1 and 2
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of advanced rescue techniques
  • Hold an appropriate current first aid certificate, to show that suitable emergency first aid training has been undertaken
  • Have knowledge of the IRATA certification scheme
  • Have knowledge of the IRATA Training, Assessment and Certification Scheme
  • Be familiar with the contents of the IRATA ICOP

Irata Course Admission Requirements

Please note - The IRATA rope access is a very physical training course.

A good standard of fitness is required in order to participate at each level of this training course

Level 2 (Operative)

  • 1000 logged hours at IRATA Level 1 in a variety of work situations
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience at Level 1

Level 3 (Supervisor)

  • 1000 logged hours at IRATA Level 2 in a variety of work situations
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience at Level 2
