A Fire Risk Assessment can help generate a clearer picture of risk prevention for your business

Fire risk assessments provide a thorough analysis of the risk your organisation and environment is susceptible too, generating a clear picture of the risk prevention or emergency response required to create a safer working environment for you and your employees.

Keeping your organisation compliant from as little as £295 + Vat

Keeping People Safe

A Fire Risk Assessment is not just about identifying risks, it is also about keeping people safe. It must include suitable Fire Alarms, Emergency Lighting Systems, Signage, Fire Fighting Equipment etc. All of which must comply with current British Standards.

A Fire Risk Assessment is the basis of the legislation and it asks the Responsible Person to look at fire risks in the workplace, then to reduce or remove that risk. Staff training, competency and safe evacuation procedures, are all critical elements of fire risk assessments and could include fire safety lectures and physical evacuations.

Fire Risk Assessments | HFR Solutions complete fire risk assessments for businesses based in Hull, Beverley, Grimsby, York, Scunthorpe, Humber, Lincolnshire & Yorkshire

When Should a Fire Risk Assessment Be Undertaken?

A Fire Risk Assessment is carried out when the building is firstly occupied and then if any changes are made and on a regular basis (ideally annually).

Fire Risk Assessments Checklist

There are five steps to completing a Fire Safety Risk Assessment, these include:

  • Identify fire hazards
  • Identify people at risk
  • Evaluate and act
  • Record, plan and train
  • Review

The importance of undertaking a thorough fire risk assessment and emergency preparedness for your organisation can't be underestimated. It should be an on-going process and kept updated at regular intervals.

The importance of a Fire Risk Assessment:

  • A fire risk assessment is the cornerstone in providing a safe workplace and environment by reducing the risk of fire in a building
  • Article 9 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire) Safety Order 2005 places the responsibility on individuals within an organisation to carry out a fire risk assessment to identify, manage and reduce the risk of fire
  • It is an offence under Article 32 if the individual/s fails to comply with the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire) Safety Order 2005 and ultimately placing people at risk of death or serious injury
  • You can carry out a fire risk assessment yourself with help from standard fire safety risk assessment guides. However if you don’t have the expertise or time yourself, then you could appoint a professional fire risk assessor who will guide you through the process
  • If the responsible person/s are proven to be failing their duties then any prosecution carries a maximum of 10 years in prison and an unlimited fine

Fire risk assessments provide a thorough analysis of the risk your organisation and environment is susceptible too, generating a clear picture of the risk prevention or emergency response required to create a safer working environment for you and your employees.

If you are unsure if you currently comply or need help understanding and implementing regulations, we can help.

Are your fire risk assessments up to scratch?

Be confident that you and your staff know your responsibilities for keeping people safe from fire. Under the “Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005” you must take reasonable steps to reduce the risk of fire in your building and carry out a fire risk assessment.

What is the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005?

It replaces most fire safety legislation with one simple order and ensures any person who has some level of control in premises, must take reasonable steps to reduce the risk from fire and make sure people can safely escape in the event of an outbreak of fire.
