Forget-Me-Knot – Community Canal Boat Update
Earlier in the summer, we announced that the business had recently invested in a new Wide Beam Community Canal Boat called the ‘Forget-Me-Knot’.
Following the completion of the build during August, we were delighted to share that the ‘Forget-Me-Knot’ had just undertaken her maiden voyage from Wakefield to her new home in Thorne, based at the Blue Water Marina.
We would like to take this opportunity to update you with the progress on this community-based initiative. In the intervening period, we have been busy fitting some of her internal furnishings including:
- Industrial wet room flooring
- Collapsible tables
- New steps
The Forget-Me-Knot is now licenced for use on all UK waterways. The team behind the project, led by John Armson, are delighted to witness how their initial idea has come to fruition and took some time to reflect on what has been achieved during her maiden voyage.
John Armson, Head of Emergency Response Services, HFR Solutions CIC comments “We are delighted with the finished build. Collectively, this project will help to engage communities and facilitate social interaction between generations.
John continues “Like with so many of our community interest projects, support from the business community will help to make this initiative a success. We would be delighted to hear from any businesses who would be interested in supporting us on this journey through sponsorship or using the boat for team meetings or corporate away days”.
It’s now full steam ahead if we are to meet our target of setting sail during the spring of 2020. As preparations gather pace, the autumn and winter months will be used for training people who expressed an interest in becoming a crew member. This will ensure we have sufficient trained staff to crew trips on the Forget-Me-Knot’ for both community and commercial partners.
