The British Safety Council (BSC) has launched the International Safety Awards 2017, open for applications from October 3rd and designed to recognise and reward global organisations that demonstrate a commitment to achieving high health and safety standards during the 2016 calendar year.
The closing date for applications is February 6th next year. You can apply online and you’ll have to answer a series of questions about the management of your health and safety, which will then be assessed by an independent team of adjudicators.
Chief executive of the BSC Mike Robinson said: “The British Safety Council’s vision is that no one should be injured or made ill at work – anywhere in the world – and the International Safety Awards celebrate organisations that are taking effective steps to protect the health, safety and welfare of their workers and others who could be harmed by their activities.”
He went on to add that winning an award can boost your reputation with business partners, customers and the general public as a whole, as well as inspiring other companies to make similar commitments and prioritise employee health and safety.
The BSC has just held its Annual Conference Health and Work in a Changing World, which took place on October 5th at The Kings Fund in London. The aim in mind was to encourage a specific health culture in the workplace, building on the lessons learned from the safety culture as a whole to help make improvements in this regard. Issues such as whose responsibility health is, what it means to companies no matter the size and where it starts and finishes were all under discussion.
