Rope Rescue Supervisor
The 5 day Rope Rescue Operator course is for emergency services personnel and personnel from organisations who are required to supervise operational work at height and rope rescue situations. It is recommended that all SWAH and Rope Rescue Operators have a supervisor present when operational.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the course, the student will have the knowledge and skills to:
- Apply knowledge of rescue equipment; use, care, application and maintenance
- Apply advanced knowledge of a range of rescue equipment, its use, care and application
- Write and use Risk Assessments and Rescue Plans
- Supervise a range of technical rescues and analyse a range of rescue situations and design suitable solutions
- Demonstrate the ability to assess and analyse a range of rescue situations and design suitable solutions
- Apply requirements of Health and Safety and principles of Work at Height
- Hierarchy as applied to work at height and rope rescues
Course Syllabus
- An awareness of the legislation that applies for rope rescue and working at height operations
- Potential Supervisors will prepare a risk assessment along with a lesson plan for both a practical and a theoretical session under guidance
- Potential supervisors will act as the supervisor for various scenarios during the course, a non exhaustive list is below:
- Selection and inspection of PPE and associated equipment for WAH
- Selection of anchor points and construction of anchor systems
- Safe systems of work for various scenarios
- Short climbs, passing knots, rope to rope transfers
- Mechanical advantage systems, selfbuilt and pre-rigged
- Power lifting systems
- Pick rescues
